Fire at 209 Edgware Road - Update |
||
|
Dear Residents,
Many of you may be aware of the fire which occurred at 209 Edgware Road, in the early hours of 19th April. I have a small update, in that CID are actively investigating the fire - and as such it is being treated as a criminal matter.
One male inside the venue was treated for minor burn injuries. One officer sustained a cut to his hand whilst assisting with the rescue of this male. Having reviewed the Body Worn Footage, I can say that some of the actions of officers at the scene saved a man's life!
Below is the original press lines from the MPS last week.
“On Thursday, 9 April at around 03:45hrs, police on patrol were flagged down to reports of a fire on Edgware Road, Paddington.
“On arrival, officers discovered a shop on fire with a 36-year-old man inside and alerted the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade, who both attended.
“Police entered the building to rescue the man. He was taken to hospital and his injuries have since been assessed as non-life threatening or life-changing.
“While rescuing the man, a police officer was injured and taken to hospital. His injuries have also been deemed non-life-threatening of life-changing.
“The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There have been no arrests. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD902/09APR26.” | ||
